Sustainability
Our commitment to the planet.
Nester Hosiery is dedicated to corporate social responsibility and recognizes that environmental stewardship is fundamental to being a good corporate citizen. Our goal is to manufacture and source quality socks that meet our customers' technical and environmental requirements, take advantage of sustainable materials, and require the least amount of energy, water, and waste to produce.
Minimizing our impact is vital to our customers, our community, and our business.
Renewable Energy
Investing in local solar.
Nester Hosiery has partnered with outdoor co-op REI and clean-energy developer Sol Systems to bring renewable energy into our manufacturing supply chain. Through a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) purchase, our partnership supports the Ventura Solar project in Taylorsville, North Carolina — advancing the transition to renewable energy close to where our socks are made.
As one of REI's largest U.S. manufacturing partners, we're proud that REI recently extended the collaboration through a new multi-year REC purchase. For us, the heart of this work is local impact: backing North Carolina solar and helping move our supply chain toward cleaner energy.

Responsible Materials
A first in responsible wool.
We're proud to be the first sock manufacturer with a supply chain traceable enough to earn certification to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) — a voluntary global standard for animal welfare and responsible land management. Earning it requires a fully documented chain of custody, so certified fiber can be traced from the farm all the way to the finished sock.
We use RWS-certified wool on select products built to that specification — it isn't used across our full range, and it's separate from the materials used by our owned brands and licensed partners. Where a product is made to the RWS, that wool comes from farms with progressive animal-welfare and regenerative land-management practices, with the traceability to prove it.
Responsible wool is one piece of a broader commitment to better materials and cleaner chemistry. From the fibers we choose to the processes we use, we work to manufacture quality socks that meet our customers' technical and environmental expectations.
